Boating advice for Harrison Lake?

Going to Harrison Lake for the first time this weekend.  Heading to Cascade Bay only.  Is it generally calmer on the east side of the lake?  Looks a lot more protected.  Don't particularly want to be caught in bigger waves.  I've got a 16ft Harbercraft, but don't enjoy coming home in big waves.

Thoughts?

I was out there in a canoe and the police boat pulled up. They said if you see a black line in the water head for shore. Cryptic, but I think I know what they meant.

Black water... that's when my grandpa would tell clients to head to shore when he owned a lodge in shuswap in the 60's. Must be true.

Probably referring to an eddy line. could be deadly in a canoe if you are not paying attention.

Your on a lake so there is no eddy line. But there can be a line defining the high and low pressure systems. Along with that can be a sudden change in weather.
