As most of ya know this boat launch is on Sea Island ( & located north side of YVR ) on the North Fraser R.
Once 1.5 yrs or more ago was I ever surprized to see this SUV type of veicle racing down the ramp & right into the water.
It then went into the N Fraser & " drove around"
Yep the veicle could be driven on the roadway or in the water.
Veicle was made in Europe.
Anyways my stroke victim near 87 yr old dad wanted to get out of the house today so got him into our veicle from his wheelchair & drove to McDonald Beach.
It was about 6 pm so had 1.5 hrs of sun light left or more.
After getting near the boat launch we saw a few things that we've never seen before.
1stly there was medium sized tug tied up at the end of the dock .
It was no small tug ...at least 30 -35 ft in length.
A very high bow & the marine radio antenna must of been 35 ft in the air from the water's surface.
It was high tide thus enough water to enter this area of water just off the river.
Never ever seen a tug tied up to the dock at McDonald Beach.
Then there was another boat that had a net piled at the bow & it also had a big plastic box that was filled with water.
Learned it was something to do with the GVRD.
Must of been at least 10 people milling about the dock that were connected with this boat.
Another big plastic fish container filled with water was in a pick up cargo box.
With big pails these folk transported these live fish from the boat & into the water filled container in the truck.
Was told that the fish were caught in the N Fraser & were going to be inspected for the type & amounts of pollution within the fish's organs etc...
The purpose was to test for pollution that gets into the river from factories sewage plants on & on & the amounts in the fish.
Then finding the results they will have a better knowledge of the pollutions that gets into other fish via the food chain.
Gee when I first saw the boat with a big net in a pile at the bow my 1 st thought was "maybe " these are natives that were doing some net fishing earlier.
Just never know what one will come across when leaving the cement jungle & checking out the river area.
