Back In The Water
« on: September 29, 2012, 07:25:00 AM »

A tribute to the boat building skills of the folks in Lunenburg. My great Grandpa worked on the original, it's hard to believe this beauty was originally built to catch and salt cod. I'm a proud Bluenoser today! :)

That is certainly a gorgeous ship Novabonker and a great heritage to belong to. You have a good reason to be proud.

Yup, quite the nice tribute. I was born in Cape Breton and most of my family was born out there. My relative(more like ancestor) Hans Jakob Tanner was one of the founders of Lunenburg.
My great Grandpa worked on the original,

My father tells me a similar story as well. Love them keeping the inspiration alive.

Check out Stan Rogers song "The Bluenose" or any of the plethora of other great songs about these marvelous wonders.

My family came over in 1751 on the Murdoch and the Pearl.9(Gaetz or Keets, Zinck or Zink) They wanted to beat the crowds. ;D My Dad scallop fished out of Lunenburg for years with a skipper aptly named Gary Tanner.

Another Tanner clan here:

It's a great province, and great town with awesome people a rich history. I miss the place a bit too often. 1751, just beat the crowds eh?  :P We arrived a little later to the party in 1753.

"Built in a Nova Scotia town
Where the shipwrights had earned the world's renown,
Down in Lunenburg they built
A living legend out of skill, sweat, and pride,
And they sailed her masterfully till she died.
Blow, winds, blow,
For the Bluenose is sailing once again."
 ;D makes me smile everytime
