Method of Choice
« on: October 08, 2012, 08:11:23 PM »

In which situations or for what species may some approaches be better than others:

1. spinners vs spoons?
2. Spin n Glow's vs any of the above?
3. corkies and yarn vs any of the above?
4. wet fly vs any of the above?
5. drift fishing vs a stationary bottom rig (ex: bar rig)?
6. drifting under float vs bottom bouncing?
7. lures vs bait?
8. worm (or other live bug) vs salmon eggs?
9. Styrofoam dry fly (with a spinning rod) vs any of the above?

Try doing a search or better yet your own research, I believe it is called fishing!

Your questions are too many and too complex.

If you deposit 500 dollars in my checking account, I will answer them for you. Otherwise, sorry, I don't have 10 hours of my life to spare to answer them for you.
Like nickredway said, do a bit of your own research. All those topics have been discussed in detail on this and other forums.

Here's a freebie, to get you started:

Clear and low water, go small. Murkier and higher water, go bigger.
Keep the presentation as close to the bottom as you can without hitting the bottom ( an occasional bump is OK).

You will find that there is no golden rule - that's why it's called fishing, not catching.

Wow thats a lot of questions and would require at the minimum a couple of hours to answer and to type it out. My best advice is to find someone knowledgable at fishing and go fishing with him. By watching, asking and experiencing you will learn to fish well. It's not going to happen overnight though but anything worth having is worth waiting for. Patience is a fisherman's friend.

Thank you to all who took the time to provide me with useful information.  These questions were not out of the blue for me and while fishing is fun, I see no point in trying to reinvent a bicycle.  I've already done quite a bit of research into most of these topics and was trying to further shorten my learning and spending curve by getting more depth on the above from experts here.  I know I asked many questions and had no expectations that any one person would spend hours answering them all.  However, if each person who chose to answer just said something about even one of the fishing methods or included a link to a source that they themselves found useful, I would already be further ahead.  Thank you, in advance, for your help and understanding.

What methods, bait, lures etc. depends on a lot of factors such as type of fish you're targetting, water conditions, clarity etc.

If you don't have good cured roe then big dew worms work better than salmon eggs for steelhead
