No waist belt just loose rubber waders with shoulder straps....but don't forget we were invincible in those days or so we thought.

Lucky Kenny!

I'm surprised there are no Capilano river "adventures".
Heard of quite a few guys getting trapped by the high rising water.

I've seen guys trapped on the gravel/boulder bar between dog leg and 3 rocks numerous times. I'm actually a bit suprised that people can not notice the water rising around them as they fish.

Having to watch my car get broken into from the lovely confines of my float tube 150 yards from shore at Rolley lake.
Saw a beater car pull in, couple of low life redneck hicks get out and walk up to my car, picked up a rock and smashed my window.  All I could do was yell at them from out in my float tube.  Between me yelling and my car alarm, they took off pretty quick, didn't get anything either.
Pretty helpless and frusterating feeling.
Worst part is I had to come in when the bite was on!

I must be tired.  I thought you wrote, you went fishing with a crayon, twice.  I was picturing forgetting your bait, and using crayon for bait and I was thinking "Hey, that's a good idea!"
Time for be I guess.

I went for a little swim in the vedder my first season fishing it. Didn't understand the power that the river really had yet, but was able to get out safely.

Some interesting stories to be sure. Another one comes to mind. I was rowing my drift boat down the Cowichan and came to a spot with a large whirlpool, I rowed hard left trying to avoid it but still got sucked into it.The boat after spinning around twice ,drifted abit over into a side current and fortunately got spit out! After bouncing off the rocks, we continued downstream on our way. A very harrowing experience.

Had the same experience this year, just bought a wading outfit and decided to cross to a little gravel bar, slipped off a rock and did the splits. Resulted in a non functioning cell phone.

When I was 18, my buddy and I took my family's zodiac about ten KM up the inlet where the salmon run.  I tied on a spoon and started casting and retrieving (bear in mind at this point I'm about as rookie as I can get), and Brendan has been to ALASKA so I thought he was the grand-fishing-shaman.  He opens his tackle box and pulls out a pink lure and says "I've caught a few salmon on this guy".

I keep casting and after a short pause he says "I better tie my super knot."

I keep casting.

After what felt like half an hour Brendan stands up in the bow of the boat, ready to fish; he opens the bail on his reel, first cast, I hear the "whew!" of the rod whipping through the air and I WATCH as his knot immediately unravels itself; it took just enough time to give the lure enough momentum to travel in a perfect arc from behind Brendan's back, over his head, past his face and disappear about two feet off the bow in the ocean.

I was laughing so hard I almost fell out of the boat.
