VANCOUVER HARBOUR FISHING REPORT

We had some really good fishing last week with some great results! On Thursday, Iron Marlin had an amazing day off the Capilano Mouth boating 6 legal chinook and losing an equal number. There was still good numbers of fish around on Friday, then the weekend hit and the fishing tanked. It has been a really tough go over the last 3 days with lots of boats out there and few fish. We have still managed to hook 1 to3 fish a trip over the last few days, but it is definately a grind out there. This is typically one of the best weeks for the West Vancouver Chinook Fishery but it looks like we need just a touch of rain to draw the fish in again.

Herring and anchovies have are typically the go to baits this time of year. Try and focus in the bottom third of the water column as the staging fish usually hang pretty deep. Having said that if a fresh wave of chinook is on its way in, fish will hit from 20 to 50 feet as well. Only a few more weeks left for this chinook fishery, then it is time to chase winter chinook. (we are looking forward to winter springs!!!!)

Looks like we are in between waves of chinooks right now, there should be another wave shortly!

There has been a few reports of the odd coho, chinook, and chum salmon off the Fraser Mouth.
