I don't like to see the words "Officials hope the fish recover", though that may be the reporter's interpretation.
It's a great fishery and it would be a shame to see it degrade further.

-- I think "HOPE" is all that the ministry staff can offer... they have no money.
-- Some investigation has been done... oxygen level testing  and some possible reasons given for the collaps.. but even if a definitive solution were found how would it be implemented.

-- Spend money on Wood = reduced money and resources for Okanagan kokanee recovery

-- Money spent on kokanee would be good value for comparative research and understanding of Sockeye...
-- One of the big What if stumbling blocks (excuses) for sockeye research is what happens in the ocean... with kokanee that big what if is gone from the equation.

About all they could do in the short term is install a bubbler or oxygen injection system to re-oxygenate the cold deep waters but that's big $$$s unless someone could organize a community/business funded project.
