Booked a cabin to take my family camping and fishing July 10 th - 11th.  I have fly fished a long time, but never in those lakes.  I know it's a family oriented place, but any recommendations  on flies, nearby lakes, general commentary, advice, or helpful info. Anything suitable info to pass on pm me. Mainly looking to drag some flies around, eat one hot dogs, and maybe try a nearby lake. I have fished quite a few lakes closer to highland valley copper.

the fish in Chataway itself are pretty small. I dont want to say the lakes name but when you get there or call ahead ask if you can have access to a boat on their "other" lake where they keep boats locked up for clients to use. That lake i have fished and got fish to 6lbs + all on chironomids (pornomids to be exact)

I think that time of year you may want to have some caddis wets and dries on hand and of course all the other staple food items

I agree with what Hook said. Main lake fish are tiny but fun for the kids to play with. You need to go elsewhere for any size.
Leech patterns always worked well for me slow rowing the kids around the lake at any time of year.

Thanks people. Yeah, I have heard of the other lakes in the area and have fished one of them. Trolling a leach around with a buzz light year rod at Chataway is probably what I am doing for at least some of the time.

Any additional ideas just pm me. Thanks for the input

if you have a boat set up for trolling you might want to look at DOT lake. its decent in size and I've heard it has some large fish as well. the lakes up there are kinda weird when it comes to fish sizes, some have fish to 5+lbs and others a 2-3lb fish would be a big one. I find it weird because there is so many lakes within 20-30mins of each other up there.
