Is there going to be a Pikeminnow derby this year?

Highlight of my fishing year is the derby. Wondered if there was going to be one. Can't find any information on the net.

Yeah there will be PM derby, a bit different this year as there won't be a payout on carcasses. ... Chris is involved, of course and will most likely start posting on this when he has finished shilling for the NDP ::)

Good to see the rumours about you committing suicide due to your recent losses are false ;)

Are small boats, rafts, canoes, inflatables allowed for the derby?
Or do they make sense?

They definitely are, I've been out there in my kayak before and have seen others in float tubes. Just remember that this is a lake with a lot of water skiing and wake boarding boats as well.

The smaller crafts should be ok as long as you stay pretty close to shore, especially in areas close to designated for swimming. We've fished from our little boat a couple of times without any problem. It might be different in July and August when the camping/water skiing crowd moves in.
