Port Alberni-Salt chuck advice needed
« on: June 21, 2013, 02:44:02 PM »

Hey guys. Heading to Port Alberni next week to do the final paper work on my new boat and I'm thinking of staying for a couple days there to do some salt chuck fishing if it's worthwhile. Does any body know if there is any good action going on there right now? I'm thinking that being towards the end of June the springs should be coming through there but I'm not familiar with that area at all. I'm from the lower mainland so any advice would be appreciated.
Thank you

The odd spring has wandered into the Inlet, but you would be FAR Better Off to head out to the Sound. Meares Bluff, Swale Rock, Diplock, Kirby and the Bamfield areas are all producing repetitively. A 3.5" Coyote (blue & silver seems the menu of choice of late) at 88 - 120 feet has been doing rather well.

Inside, a few sockeye are being caught, but with the cooler weather and rains, few is the operative word. Pink or RED MP Hootchies behind a red Hotspot. Anywhere from 40 to 120 feet (let the sounder decide).

Good Luck!  ;)

Cheers,
Nog
