Hi Guys,
So we went up for the camping and we had a very good time. We stayed at Tunkwa lake resort, we fished two days on the lake and we did one day trip to the Thompson.
On the lake we tried trolling with some nymphs pattern, worms and chironies under a float. Chironies brought the most success. On the Thompson we mainly fished stone fly under a float.
Things we learned and that may be useful for others going up that area:
- Tunkwa lake is what they call the banker's fishery the best time to fish is 9 to 5 as the insects comes out more when it's warm.
- If you fish Chironies under a float you need to jig it a little. I learned this on the last day and made a world of difference for us.
- Thompson is an early morning late day fishery as you may expect but even more considering that during the day is desert hot up there so better camp at the Thompson the night before so you are ready to go in the morning
- If you drive from Tunkwa lake to the Thompson don't trust you Navigon GPS and drive around the highway for 1.5hrs (like we did) there is a shortcut going north just out of the Tunkwa rd that takes you to the Thompson in 20mins...
Over all we had great time here are some pics from the trip
