Eve River, August 6th & 7th 2013
« on: August 08, 2013, 08:45:49 PM »

Traveled up to the Eve in Northern Island.  Stayed at Painter Lodge and drove the 1 1/2 hours to mouth of the Eve both days.  First day was a wash out my buddy and I used fly equipment.  Just a few hits and only a few fish being picked up by others.  Fishing the incoming tide and had some problem wading back as I am a diabetic and went into low blood sugar wading back in about 3 ft. of water.  Luckily my buddy was close behind me and with the assistance of one other fisherman helped me to the other side.  He had a   double chocolate chip cookie I quickly devoured the cookie and recovered enough to hike out in about 10 minutes.  I usually have a few bars in my vest but somehow had eaten all of them.   To make the day better the waitress at our hotel spilled coffee on my new smart phone and I broke a expensive pair of sun glasses.  So skunked and not feeling great we headed back to Painters.

Next day we headed out early to catch the incoming tide and low and behold limited out.  My buddy was still on flies but I moved over to my centre pin, most guys fishing up there are either fly or spey fishers.  Sure was a more enjoyable day than Tuesday.  No mishaps that day.

The other fishers up there are very friendly will give you advise and three guys even gave me flies to try.

It's my second trip up to the river and will be back for sure.

Be sure to carry a few rolls of Lifesavers in your vest and in your glove compartment.
