Christina Lake/Kettle River

Hi, I'm going to be camping up at cascade cove RV park either Canada weekend or BC day weekend. I'm looking for info on both the lake and the river, I have a float tube and many rods that i am taking. Ive read that there are bass there as well as many other fish. I would like to get into bass since i have never caught them before. any info on spots and how to fish these areas would be awesome.

You can catch a tench in Christina lake. Ask Dijon.

Christina is a bigger lake than you'd think. You'll be out of place in a float tube with the ski boats zipping around. The bass are easy to catch and can be caught from shore.  Do you plan on fly fishing or fishing gear?

Gray or green tube jigs pitched under the floating docks, along the wooded areas and along the shoreline where there are lakeside houses with drops in depth will get you bass. Trolling small leaches and streamers will get you bass along with trout.

I plan on bringing fly and gear set ups. I went out and bought some bass lures so I'll try those as well as flies.

Give topwater lures and popper flies a shot at dawn and dusk, target structure.

Quite a few years ago while camped at the provincial park on Christina I decided to do a bit of snorkeling.
I saw a few bass nests, yes they hollow out indents in the bottom and they are called nests.
Later that night I took my boys to where they were just of shore about 30 - 40 feet and let them cast out sinkers with a t-bar type rig setup with a Muddler Minnow.
One got a 3lb and the other got a 4lb bass.
It was great for them and the other kids that saw them bring them in.

I have been at Christina lake for 10 days and have had a blast catching small mouth. I have floated down Christina creek and have caught numerous bass, sunfish and pikeminnow all on the fly. Love this place. Floating down the kettle river today from grand forks, I was told two people caught and released 40 decent rainbows.
