Hi dear, I have bough a Gibbs 1/4 pink lures, but i was wondering does the hook that come with it is too big or I have to change a smaller hook. I have read post that people using size 4 hook,so does that mean the hook that come with the 1/4 lures is too big? ( i fish in richmond bc)

size 4 is what i use under a float not on a lure.

A helpful hint. I change out my hooks on those lures. The hooks they come with are too long for my liking. I find I lose less fish with a shorter hook.

If you do leave on the hooks they come with, don't forget go pinch the barb.

Original hooks that come with spoons are about right size but are not sticky sharp and is the main reason some fishermen change them. I replace all my spoons and spinners with either Gammie or other brand name is siwash hooks as I prefer very sharp hooks.

Hook size needs to be matched to lure size to give it correct action and adequate bite area. Rule of thumb I use is: 1/8, 3/16, 1/4 oz. => #2 siwash, 3/8 oz => #1 siwash, 2/5, 1/2 oz => #1/0 Siwash, 3/4, 1 oz => #2/0 is siwash. When spoon fishing for pinks, I mostly use 3/16 oz as I find that size to be most productive in majority of situation.
