Non-tidal Fraser River, September 10th 2013
« on: September 10, 2013, 05:21:04 PM »

Arrived at river 2hrs before morning low water, only three other guys there. Lots of rollers. Got into fish, right away.  Within an hour the river was boiling with fish.  This is what its supposed to be like. Finally they are here in huge numbers. More  guys started arriving and it was comical to see them scrambling to get set up, when they saw how many fish were there. A sturgeon charter anchored just out of casting range presumably to get some bait, as they were killing everything they landed, then went mid river to resume their quest for the big boys. Back on shore wave upon wave of fish kept coming. What a sight. With every retrieve you could feel your lure hitting fish many many times. It was inevitable that you would snag some.  I brought at least 20 to shore, probably about half in the mouth,  my buddy brought in about the same. We had four double headers, and we were just laughing at the absurdity of it. Hope it was like this for everyone. Going again tomorrow with my camera, in the hopes of getting a few shots of 15 - 20 rollers out of the water at the same time for the doubting Thomases out there.  tight lines all.

Was planning on moving up river as the lower and mid have been quite slow recently, this season has been a bit weird the fish are very tight lipped don't remember it being this tough for pinks in recent years anyway thanx for the report sounds like a stellar time on the river ;D.

I was in the non-tidal today as well. Lots of fish around but i found the tightlipped as well.  I got into a few and now have some oiks to smoke and some roe to sure, but I agree.  This is a strange year.  I am having a tough time on the fly.  The bouncers were into the regularly but i was much slower.

Not sure how to edit a post, but I will use spell check from now on.

Meant to say:

I now have some pinks to smoke and some roe to cure.  And that the bouncers were into them regularly.

It has been tough on the fly this year with visibility much lower than past Septembers.

I agree with the clarity comment, most of this season I haven't been able to see my feet when wading knee deep  :o

Thanks for the Modify tip!

The water hasn't been very clear that is for sure.  What do you normally do the - bigger fly?

I know the only colour to work for me this year has been Chartreuse.  I have fished pink, blue and other colours, but chartreuse has been the only colour to produce.
