Chilliwack River, September 19th 2013
« on: September 19, 2013, 09:11:55 PM »

We got out a bit later than I had hoped, today, and stopped by the Highway Bridge at the canal to have a look - too deep for wading to where I wanted to be for fishing.. back in the truck, and stop at Lickman.  we walked downriver a way an found a nice run to settle in at.

Over the course of the day (0930-1800) I legitimately hooked (on the line for over 5 seconds, hooked in the mouth) 27 pinks.  Many others on the hump.  A busy day :)  One small spring (jack?) was caught just as we were leaving.

Wow - I couldn't believe the weather today!  Just like mid-summer.  Good to get out before the fall storms start tomorrow.

Tight Lines - let's see the Coho now!

My fishing buddy and i arrived at dawn.  The regular snaggers were out in full force at KWB.  Went a couple hundred yards downstream and fished for about an hour and just as the masses arrived decided to try elsewhere. Went to another spot where there was a nice gutted out run a couple years ago, however it had filled in.  There were thousands of fish whipping by us in less than a foot of water.  We stood there for about ten minutes and just marveled at the sight! (the exact location will NOT be disclosed as snaggers would have a field day here.  Every minute or so a spring would just plow its way upstream, So Impressive! Headed back to first spot but to the other side of the river where there weren't so many guys.  Landed several humpies and a nice jack spring.  Beautiful day.  Just wished we had my buddies go-pro, would have liked to filmed all the fish swimming by us in the shallows.  Tight lines All.

i also left kwb...not because it was loaded with fisherman but needed to find other spots past kwb that would be excellent holding spots for the springs and away from the smell of spawned out pinks. Found as hole ,saw some silver flashes among a school of pinks and decided to drift some boraxed pink roe among them. perfect hook set and a nice jack spring about 5 pounds. it was a white spring but anyway took it home and put it in a spicy marinade and deep fried it for guests that evening. im not sure if that spot will b fishable when the rains cloud up the vedder but i will be back. BTW the hole under the bridge was happening as about 4 large springs were pulled in the 1 hour i was there. red and peach was the wool color. good luck guys.
