Didn't have much luck last year on the vedder...used roe, wool, spinners, colorado... So im guessing its the water I am fishing. I had found a back eddy that was still water and I could see so many fish but no takers.

What kind of water should I be fishing? I see a lot of "runs" but the water seems so low and fast.

Vedder is often a first light fishery for coho........   just sayin.

Although back eddies can be productive, I have found my best success lately by fishing the seams between slow and fast water. What seems to happen is that the fish push up the fast water and hold on this edge for a break before pushing back up river. Later in the year I will look for frog water to flog with my fly rod for coho but right now I usually catch fish that are on the move.

I think the original poster was Funfish and I printed a copy out too at the time and took along with me on the river to read for these formations. Really nice advice to newbies to learn to read water. You can learn some valuable fishing knowledge from unselfish FWR senior members.
