Some of them are really big (4-5#), but very poor table fare.
Better eat the smaller ones.

The stocked fish that just got released there average 219 grams. (about half a pound)

As stated, there is some large fish released each year that are old brood stocks, but this only happens once a year and wont be happening for another month or so. There is still a chance some of these big guys are around though.

There is always a chance that there is still fish around that were stocked in the spring or last year, so they too would have grown from the 200-something grams they were released at.

Thanks so much, no wonder my friend caught very big ones last year.

Keep your eyes peeled here, there should be an announcement/update whenever the big ones are going to get deposited. They only get put in a few local lakes that are considered "safe" because they dont have outlets, which means the broodstock cannot make it out into the wild. They dont want them in the wild because they have been trained to spawn at the wrong time of year, because it works better for their lake stocking plans.

The lakes they put them into include Mill, Green Timbers, and Lafarge.

The fact they put them in Lafarge is a bit odd to me, because there IS an outlet in that lake, its just not at ground level. There is an underground spring that connects Lafarge to the Coquitlam River... Lafarge Lake used to be a gravel pit, but it flooded when they hit said spring... Rumors say there is still equipment at the bottom because they didn't have time to get it out before it flooded.

Thread derail but since Lafarge has a fountain I think they would of cleared the bottom as well while they were out there

Its a floating fountain. Its not on the bottom, other than an anchor to stop it from drifting too far.
