Help me find the mouth of the chehalis by boat
« on: October 20, 2013, 10:45:18 AM »

Can someone help locate the mouth of the chehalis.  I went last year by boat, but it was too foggy.  I remember a section of verticle logs in the river, i guess for tying up log booms??  I also remember seeing some sort of boat launch (maybe native) I am wondering if any can tell me if I was even close?  Is it too early for Coho at the mouth of the chehalis?

I was thinking, doesn't everyone have a smartphone these days? They have GPS. pull up Google Maps app, and use that.

Above the hwy bridge but below the lake  ;D

Seriously, google earth should help you. It is kind of braided where it meets the Harrison, it doesn't just pour out like a creek mouth.

Yeah, you were there.  Head up to those boom pilings and watch for it on your left.

save your self the time. the chehalis is a trickle right now with the lack of rain. was there this weekend and finding fresh fish was extremely challenging. only managed a few but saw lots of tomatoes that were holding at the mouth waiting to go up. if you wanna go play with some chum their are lots around.

I would park your boat behind the pilings and hike in to the mouth. You could run in via the green line but you'd want to be running a jet for sure, you have to hop the bar just before the main flow. Trust me is easier to hike in! The yellow line is the way out towards the flats but its super braided.
