Everyone is so worried on here about the bears LOL, I am worried about all the cougars out there! You never know you have one stalking you until it is on top of you 95% of the time.

For those hiking into the canyon, if someone else is at a spot and fishing it before you DO NOT HIKE INTO IT AND JOIN THEM!!! It is a courtesy that has gone on for MANY years there and on other canyon systems.

This is very true I'm not to worried about bears they usually get scared off. They are only black bears. I will say i was tracked by a cougar at my day trip hunting spot and i didn't notice it at all.  The only ones you can see coming are the ones at Gabby's  and even them sometimes scare me.
It is a good way to get a little space(or get the cops called on you) to bring a shotgun to the river like that.  People tend to go away from guys with guns  if they are from the city.

Gabby's cougars send shivers down my spine more than cougars in the wild.

Not every cougar out there is dangerous, April seems pretty harmless.

If your meaning Ms. Vokey, she isn't a cougar. She is under the age of 30 which leaves her very far from being a cougar LoL

I also have seen the scariness at Gabby's. I haven't returned since  :o

I usually have my 590 strapped to my back up in the canyon.

I have agree with you arriving early and then having the hoard descend on you. The last few yrs. I fished the Vedder system I didn't have any problems with close quarters. A ten ft. Lamiglass placed across the bridge of one's nose sure gets there attention. Now I fish a 13' rod . I would probably be arrested for intent to injure. When a guy posts looking for information on a certain piece of water just don't answer. Yes you are right I am one of those types that says go do your own research and your own leg work. Or pay Rodney.
