X3 on the guide check. I was part of another thread here wondering about my break offs (braid to mono knots), and still losing lures/set ups. Glacially slow to catch on, I finally looked at the tip. I'd seen duller scalpels. Every time the knot hit the spot, it turned into an aerial bombardment. Feel sheepish (and lighter in the wallet) for not checking way earlier.
As for bobber stops, I prefer the Dacron above and below the slider. The rubber stoppers are cheap, but I got lots of Dacron. Also, Dacron puts less stress on the line when adjusting the float IMO, even when making sure the rubber stops are rated for that size line. Others seem to have no problem, but it's a minor point.
