Age eleven is the margin age to take your son on a Youth and Parent Parent Adventure retreat. These are provided by the Abbotsford/Mission branch of Youth Unlimited and are donation. Pick the fly fishing package and you get yours truly as your instructor. All equipment, fly tying equipment & supplies, rods & reels, plus fishing time is included. A good way to give your child a taste of fly fishing before you lay out the bucks for equipment.

Also from my experience as father, grandfather, and both a youth fly fishing club coordinator, and instructor, I have found the Mom or Dad needs to be involved in the learning experience, otherwise it become a dividing tool rather than a bonding tool.
