A buddy of mine mentioned to use a bit more weight at the start till you get the hang of it.  Also used youtube a bit and started with the "BC Cast".  Make sure to get the reel spinning before you release.  :)

27 cast tonight - no Backlashes or broken fingers. I even had an older gentleman from the neighborhood came over and gave me the body motion aspect! Wow

It started to make sense. This Sage rod is pretty awesome as well.

Any thought on what to do if I actually get a fish on? Those handles spinning get you again don't they!

Use your middle, ring and maybe pinkie finger to be a human"drag" system and control the fish.If you have proper control, knucklebusters never happen.Keep using only your pinrod(leave the baitcaster at home, not behind you on the rocks),and you'll just start to get it.Try different casts, even if they seem impossible(wallis is cool),and it'll come together.Be smart when targeting large chinooks after you get better, they can be a bitch.

You can also use you're other hand to cup the bottom of the reel, to help keep the fish from screaming away down stream
