This year has been the worse I have seen in many years of fishing this system. I had been out 20 plus days without even a take down. Although I have not fished as hard and long as I used to I should have found at least a couple in these trips.
I thought this would be a year I would be skunked and could only count the one from the Thompson from October.
An hour this morning saw nothing so after lunch I moved to another part of the river.
This moved provided successful as I landed a small wild doe, a silver bullet, fresh run, this was after I had lost one and missed a couple of others all on roe bags.
I now had my confidence back and was glad to got rid of a possible blanked season on the Vedder River.
I move to another run and on the first cast I am into another, a smallest fish but takes me down stream a bit before I lose it as I am drawing it close to shore, a wild doe, fresh as the previous.
Another run I had fished earlier proves to be fish number 4 of the day but it also gains its freedom after being on for a few seconds, did not look large, a typical March fish.
I fish to close to dark with no more chances but was satisfied with what the afternoon had provided and I can now join the ranks of others that have landed a steelhead in 2014, maybe more will follow before the year ends, at least one can hope so.
