looking to replace my 40 merc prop with a jet, any info would be appreciated.

Specs on the boat you plan on pushing would help.

If you are used to a 40hp prop, you will more than likely want to step up to a 60hp jet.

I suspected that I would need a 60 jet, pushing a Legend V151 sport would prefer to stay with a Merc to keep ancillary costs down.

ok so the installed price would be $10000, maybe best for me to shop for a jet boat outboard of course, any suggestions on best site to shop,

i have a 50hp jet on my 16ft alum. i would at least go 60hp minimum. 50hp is just not enough. i find i need to almost be at redline to maintain any momentum. best web site i think is craigslist to find outboards especially in seattle and portland.

Expect to lose at least 15% if going to jet when impeller and sleeve are shimmed perfect and edges are sharp.
