Any of you trollers out there use dummy flashers for coho and springs or is it just a sockeye thing? Thanx

In July I tried using dummy flashers for Chinook and Coho out in Kyuquot, but to no avail.  I had a couple of the single triangular ones, as well as the kind that have four connected in-line, and neither worked for me.

I believe that the action imparted to your terminal tackle by a flasher on the line is a significant factor in getting salmon to bite, but it would be nice to fight the fish without the flasher.  I strive to use less and lighter gear in all my fishing--I'd love to lose the flasher--so I'll try again with the dummy flasher.  Of course, the other option is to mooch.
