Sproat River, February 1st 2015

Last weekend, I borrowed Mrs Everyday from Everyday to have her host one of the videos on our website. ;D We went over to Port Alberni to fish the SSS system with Murphy Sportfishing. I've never been before so didn't really have any expectation. All I can say is that I didn't know steelheading can be that comfortable…. ;D Standing in a jet boat, moving from spot to spot and cast when we moved into position. We didn't hook a whole lot of fish compared to the other boats, but it was a lot of fun and I can't wait to give it another go next season. Our guide Kevin was very knowledgable and more importantly very encouraging throughout the day.

Because Murphy's lodge is occupied by an exchange student program in the winter, accommodation for their guests is hosted at the West Coast River Lodge instead. The lodge is owned and hosted by Sean and Marnie, who were incredibly welcoming and made their guests feel at home. Marnie cooked up a pretty large breakfast for us before heading out so we were pretty energized throughout most of the fishing trip. By 3pm I was getting hungry so I finally opened up the packed lunch she provided, and was blown away. She had packed hot soup, sandwiches, cookies, fruit, cheese and other snacks in it. That sure made a big difference when fishing on a rainy day.
