Ucluelet Fishing Report
« on: May 05, 2015, 09:49:44 PM »

The season has started but was hampered by some really bad weather last week. Things are shaping up however and anglers are now into some quality early Chinook Salmon.
Early season spring fishing fish are 8 to 20 lbs. Quality fish. These are Chinook Salmon.

So far the best Salmon fishing has been close to Ucluelet so not a big run. Fishing the Outside edge of Barkley Sound, Great Bear and out as far as three miles offshore.

The fish are hunkering right on the bottom, so the gear varies between 110-150 feet deep depending on bottom depth.  Using Spoons with Flashers or Anchovies with Flashers.  Fish are biting on the tides but morning has been by far best.

Good Ling Cod fishing is normal in the early season as well. Ling Cod 7-15 pounds some ling cod. Taking a break from trolling for Salmon to jig for some Lings using Budzildas.

Very low effort at the moment so not a lot of chatter to compare locations.  The forecast is looking great this week for weather, should set up for some nice long bite phases.

Our Fishing Report site is now being updated regularly with the current conditions, tides and wind predictions.  We hope you find it useful.
