My favourite pink/coho setup is 8'6" 6-12lb Med-fast with 2500 reel spooled with 8lb 0.010mm mono, casts a mile and I am very happy with it, have handled chums as well
I gave some thought of switching to braid for better hooksets and sensitivity but was told that braid would cut trough the porcelain guides over time. Anyone had a similar experience before?
it depends if your guides got ceramic insides or not , I have problem with my old sturgeon rod , but I was using 65lb braid on it I casted 20oz weights
on my spinning setup I use 10 lb braid for over a month , and I fish every weekends with it - and no ceramic guides and so far look pretty neat .
