Winter Steelhead Guided Trips - Walk & Wade
Beginning at the start of January, Sea-Run Fly & Tackle will be offering Guided Walk and Wade trips for Winter Run Steelhead. Our main technique for these ghostly silver bullets is Float Fishing with a conventional gear setup, paired with a casting or centrepin setup.
Winter Run Steelhead begin to enter a good majority of our local river systems in December, and numbers will generally increase throughout the Winter months, before they spawn in the Spring time and migrate back to the Ocean. Steelhead, especially Winter Run fish, are a highly sought after game fish in British Columbia as their presence in the water can be characterized as ghostly and transient. At times, these fish are definitely tricky to locate, but that is only half of the battle. Finding the fish, and presenting your lure or bait are just some of the main factors you will come across with a day on the water. While this fishery is portrayed to be extremely difficult, it most certainly does not have to be! In this particular fishery, 10% of anglers catch 90% of the fish. This is a great opportunity to learn from the 10%!
Guided Trip Outline:Our Guided Trips are based on an 8 hour Day, walking and wading along the designated Steelhead System at the current time. Our most popular river we fish for Winter Run Steelhead is the Vedder/Chilliwack River system. The Vedder/Chilliwack is one of British Columbia’s largest Steelhead fisheries, offering up the chances of both Wild, and Hatchery fish. The Chilliwack River offers a sustainable Steelhead Fishery for anglers of all types. This system also offers up an incredible amount of fishable water from large classic runs, deep pools, endless riffles, side channels, and pocket water. With the large variety of water types, new anglers are exposed to a wide range of fishable water that is often overlooked by many anglers.
