Lower Vedder was great for Chinook early this morning. I had 3 hook-ups.  I saw 4 landed and about another 10 on. This was between 5 a.m. and 8 a.m. After that it tappered off considerably. A lot of sockeye jumping and accidental sockeye hookups.  Always amazes me how much sockeye freak out when you hook into them; especially when on the Vedder and all you want to do is try to quickly bring them in and release.

The thing about bringing them in quickly is so the fish doesn't tire out too much. The quicker you bring it in, the more chance of survival the fish has. Especially when the Vedder sockeye run is not very big. Still, it is great fun to just play a fish.

I agree, get them in quickly and release them quickly to maximize survival.  If you're not targeting those fish, especially a run that is at risk, every fish that survives counts.  The Fraser should open soon for sox, so have your fun there where there's a big run of sox.

Are the springs being caught in the Vedder right now, white or red?  Also is there such a thing as a marble spring???

I've caught them in the fall in the Vedder.

Not all springs in the vedder now are reds.  Last year i saw a 4 pound jack that was white.
