Bull Char then or Dolly Varden Char. Luckily be wasn't hooked too deep, I use big pinched octopus hooks so I dont lose the fish, but also so they don't swallow it too deep

Skunked today, lots of little one's jumping. I was super busy yesterday shopping and my roe sat in my car for like 6 hours. Guess it ruined the quality of the bait. I did, however, at dusk, get lots of little taps only to find the bait gone. Could have been residual baby salmon or VERY small dollies. Tons jumping at dusk. Some of the splashes were extremely tiny. Now to work night shift. I'm so looking forward to that after literally fishing all day then being skunked  ::)

Maybe they were trying to get away from something? I would switch tactics and chuck a lure or 2 and see what happens.

I have no idea what could be chasing little bullies at this time
of the year. Maybe an early Spring? Thanks for the tip, will try it out.

Could also have been a seal but probably would have saw it.

pinching the barbs won't effect how deeply the fish will take the hook. Try circle hooks. Mortality with typical J hooks, which includes octopus hooks can be 40% and up.
