Need Advice on a G.Loomis Rod
« on: June 14, 2016, 01:27:16 PM »

I'm planning to replace an stolen Sage CT2106 and my budget is ~$450 so I won't be able to afford another Sage rod. I've heard good things about GLoomis STFR 1474 which is a 2pc 12' 3" Med-Heavy, Fast action float rod. I'm going to pair this rod with a Luna 300 for steelhead and coho fishing in Vedder, Squamish and some occasional trips up to Thompson.

Has anyone been using this rod on our local flows and what's your overall experience with it? Also, I'm seeking advice on a value rod that fits my budget and intended usage.
Appreciate your inputs.

If you are looking for something to replace your 2106 in terms of action and performance I dont think that particular Loomis will be a very close match. It will be much faster and somewhat heavier. If Loomis has something like a 1263 (~8-15lb rating ) in medium action that will probably be the closest to the Sage that you'll find.
