« on: December 03, 2016, 09:48:03 AM »

wondering if anyone has some insight on this blank i just was given i want to build it but not quite sure what it was intended for, its a 2 piece 9' blank from sometime in the 70s i believe. was planning to make it into a fly rod its got quite a thick butt section but is pretty light action. can't really find any info about it online

FL (fly)
108 (9ft)
9 (weight)
F (fast)

Fenwick had the same numbering scheme too...

I have 2 that I built myself. I have used them only a little, for Coho and Steelheads. I made a fighting butt for them out of other fiberglass rod broken blank sections. I just insert it into the end of the rod, and it stays due to friction. Hoping to use them more in the future for trout in large lakes off the downrigger.
Ya, they are not stiff like graphite.

ya i never single hand for steelhead or salmon really other than coho so i think I'm going to make it into a small pin rod. ill make a butt section like you say instead of taking up more of the rod length thanks for the input  8)
