Petition Build a Fish Ladder over the Alouette Dam
« on: October 27, 2016, 03:05:59 PM »

cant see anything wrong with building a fish ladder.

https://www.change.org/p/bc-hydro-bc-provincial-government-build-a-fish-ladder-over-the-alouette-dam

would be nice if it could turn into:

http://globalnews.ca/video/3026041/bringing-back-the-brunettes-salmon

More infor about BC hydro's influence on the Alouette River system including flooding the river and leaving fry stranded on peoples lawns

http://www.mapleridgenews.com/lifestyles/397808871.html?utm_source=Watershed+Watch+Email+List&utm_campaign=d7c36f6524-Salmon_News_Oct_26_2016&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_405944b1b5-d7c36f6524-237219713

Don't worry foks bc hydro's got it covered

"Hydro spokesman Rob Harrison, told me then that their crews of fry “salvagers” scoop up the ones they notice and return them to the river, but later agreed to a more credible scenario."

Would be cool to see sockeye and other salmon spawning in Gold River above the damn once more. Heck, there are fish spawning in there right up to the falls (kokanee and trout i assume). Last time I was there i saw hatching "trout/kokanee" only a hundred feet below the falls or so in a calm pool.

Anything to help our salmon stocks I say...
