[Sir Snag-A-Lot]

Does anybody have any updates on the status of this lake? I hiked and fished for brookies up there several times 12+ years ago. I haven't heard any stories since, but heard a rumor elsewhere that the lake may have been drained. Searches here turn up no real info.

It appears leadbelly was up there in the summer of 2014, and there was water and fish at that time.

I was up there a couple years ago as well and there was definitely still water. It was frozen so I can't comment on the fishing.

Lakes dam was taken out years ago. It only lowered the lake. Best time is right after ice off flies or worm and bobber the latter produces the best.

I was up there last year and had a nice time chucking small jigs and crocs.  Lots of small but pretty fish. 

Edit - Forgot to mention there is probably snow still at that elevation and access may be sketchy as it was just melting as we went last year and it was very wet/marshy.

I live on Burke and hike up to Munro a couple times a year for something to do. I don't usually bring a rod to fish, just go hike up to burn some calories. There is definitely still snow up there and it's super marshy and wet around the edges. You have to bushwack to get to the main part of the lake.

It's quite the hike, lots of vertical and your going to be sweaty as hell when you get there. If your looking to do a hike as the primary adventure and fishing as a side activity it's decent. If fishing is going to be the primary activity of the day you may be disappointed after doing the hike.

I fished Munro lake late June 2017.  Ice still covered about two thirds of the lake and water temperature was 2 degrees C.  However the little Brook trout (biggest was 9 inches) were hungry for small streamers and even got a couple on dry flies despite the cold conditions.  I caught and released around 20 trout in about 2 hours in the section of lake closest to the creek mouth (the only part that was unfrozen).  Well worth the hike.

Hiked up there twice years ago and both times it was still frozen.
We were going for the fishing so yes we were very disheartened.
Is a cool hike but id never try it now that im older and out of shape.
