Arrived at the mouth of the Capilano at 5:20 AM and was pleasantly surprised to see only three anglers present. One of them was a native fellow trying to snag cohos using a huge treble hook. He reported that he wasn't having any luck. Over at Ambleside there was approximately half a dozen anglers fishing the breakwater and another half dozen fishing the deep slot. In between the mouth and Ambleside was another 3 fishermen. From what I can observed, they were all using spinners of varying colours and sizes. At 6:20 the monotony was broken with the arrival of the Velendam back from her Alaskan cruise. It was followed a few minutes later by a Seaspan tug. A Holland American cruise ship brought up the rear. In terms of fishing, I saw or heard of only 2 cohos caught - one from the breakwater and another from between the mouth and the breakwater. I later learned that it was Robert who caught one of the two. Both were caught on spinners. I later met up with a friend who reported that fishing has been slow this year; alot of the regulars has yet to catch their first coho. As to myself I had one bite on a brass Krocodile but lost it. I called it a day at 7:30 without seeing one fish surfaced. Following breakfast at the Tomahawk Restaurant I stopped off at the mouth of the Seymour to check out whether there is any action. There was one angler present and he had the same luck as I did.
