Hey Leadbelly.  Glad to hear you had such a great day.  Green with envy though.  Didn't get much done at work because I was daydreaming about the river.

GOT 26 TO THE BOAT TODAY, BUT NO SPRINGERS ! ::)

Cool a catch and release sockeye fisherman ::)

Why not just get your 2 sockeye and then bar fish for springs?

Captain Bonk, 26 today. Great day eh! But why not stop soremouthing 24 of those. I know everybody wants their spring but to ****kick all those sox. Why not barfish or something. Sockeye are for meat, not catch & release sport fishery, they're lined man!

Congrats Leadbelly.
Its about time you got that spring.
I was checking out Ballam road on the weekend and noticed the guys in boats were doing very well. Lots of socs and springs. Shore access sucked though.

ya it looked very very slow off the road, not much better on the walk in part of Peg.Ours was the boat that didnt havta chase a spring, I just made it my B$%^ and brought it to the boat, even as the big guide boat chased one down stream past us only to release the fouled sock ;D

I wasn't going to say anything, but since JP Patches did bring it up I guess I will voice my disgust as well.

I know its ironic that as flossers we are critical of one another (we are all snaggers essentially).  But Catch and Releasing of 26 sox is  brutal.  Its exactly what DFO is looking for to shut down the fraser flossery!

We have all seen that red head fish counter at Scale bar and peg leg...one of the first questions he asks is id you C&R'd any socs.

With the river sooo warm and the fish travelling sooo far, it is terribly irresponsible to floss so many socs (in what I pressume is the persuit of a spring).

PS -  I counted 5 dead fish floating down river on Tuesday.  Who knows if they fell out of a gill net or died after a long battle with a "sports" fisherman...but the river is very warm right now so lets do our part not to be wasteful by killing fish we dont even keep!

agree with you 100% - catch your limit and leave imho. if you want to play c/r maybe skip the sock season or head in the vedder - water is way colder there.

Leadbelly and I had a great time fishing today, but I have to agree on the sock issue.  By the time you finish fighting it and letting it go, it will never make it home.  We're all guilty of doing it to a couple, but lets keep it reasonable.  Change meathods for springs we don't need to give the natives anything to use as ammo against us recreationals.
