After a very wet January, February has been a very enjoyable month on the water!  With more pleasant, calm days than rough and rainy days it sure feels like spring is around the corner.   We have been out on the water a lot over the last couple weeks and we have found pretty good number of winter chinook salmon on most days.   Some trips have had to work for keepers though!

Our Vancouver fishing trips have been focussing efforts in Howe Sound .  Now that we are entering into March and a bit more of a spring pattern, some of our effort will likely be focussed off the outer reaches of Vancouver Harbour.  The Mile Markers, Bell Buoy and the freighter anchorages will all hold fish in increasing numbers in coming weeks.  While fishing in Vancouver Harbour in the coming weeks, some of the fish will start to suspend in the water column and running a rod a little higher up will increasingly start to pay off.    We are starting to run some bigger presentations as the bigger bait is now showing in local waters.    We have seen quite a few larger 5 to 7 inch herring in the bellies of the aggressive winter chinook salmon.    Larger 3.5 to 4.0 G Force and Silver Horde Spoons are good bets in coming weeks.    G Force patterns like the No Banana's, Bon Chovy, and Trailhead are excellent bets.  The Silver Horde Homeland Security and Irish Cream spoons are good patterns as well.

We have been fishing the Southern Gulf Island's from our sattellite location in Sidney, BC and have found good numbers of fish and some nice ones up to 15 pounds.  Smaller presentations have been key over there and little Wee Gees and Coho Killers have been productive.

March is a fantastic month for dropping traps!   Prawning and crabbing have both been productive.  If you are looking at getting out on a charter our Winter Charter Special is on all month!   The scenery, the fishing and the seafood feast makes for one of our most enjoyable trips of the year.    Check out this link for more information and check out this video to show what the winter experience is all about!!!!   Give us a call for prime March Dates!
