BC CDC Shellfish Map
« on: May 17, 2022, 03:09:22 PM »

Hi everyone,

New to reading the shellfish closures, but it seems like these regulations are more confusing than fishing regulations. I'm trying to help a friend out with interpreting the BC CDC map that tells you what biotoxin closures there are. I'm really confused about what's closed and what isn't. In the screenshot it shows that "littleneck clams, manila clams, mussels, oysters" are Open Species. But the asterisk says "*If other closures are listed in this pop up (Emergency, Prohibited, Sanitary, Chemical), harvesting is prohibited for all species. "

Does this mean that it's unsafe to harvest everything? Or can you indeed safely harvest "littleneck clams, manila clams, mussels, oysters"?

Any help would be appreciated.
