FAWN AND SHERIDAN

Just returned from a 6 day trip to Hwy 24 area. Spent the first few days at FAWN LAKE where fly fishing was excellent. Fish from 1.5 to 2 lbs on Spratley and black mixed with claret micro leech (Sizes 8 and 10) on sink tip line. Fawn is a very shallow lake with a maximum depth of about 30 feet. Even those hauling the hardware behind the boat were doing well.

SHERIDAN was another story. Only those hauling the hardware were successful when fishing very deep. I had some success around the shorelines but fish very small. One fly fisher was successful (8 lb rainbow) a towing a leech on a lead line at 30  ft. I was told I was 2 weeks early for the big lakes like Bridge, Sheridan and Lac de Roche. However, the weather was great, the campgrounds excellent and the people friendly as hell. Many camping there just to be outdoors in this great Province of ours. The leaves are beginning to turn, wildlife in abundance. What a life !  :) :) :)

glad to hear that you did well at Fawn as for Sheridan I have fished for the last 15 years and only landed 2 fish. This was the same day as well! ???

Isnt that an awsome area.I have fished both for 30 years and cant wait to get back.Did well on Sheridan this summer,was into around 10 fish and got a couple beuties in.We rent a private cabin there for 500 a week and it is a palace with everything u need from bbq to boat.Would like to get up there in the spring or fall but we go in summer for the kids being able to swim.

An electric motor on a bellyboat, Norm...that would do it for you.  ;D

Most of the fish caught at Fawn were in the shallow area just off the resort area.

Good to here you got into some fish at Fawn. Was Barry up there? He fishesout of a grey zodiac and has a white chevy pick up. He still got the winning fish for the lake derby? :)

Excellent report, I love hearing about Fawn Lake. I'll be out there fishing fawn, irish, and a couple of secret lakes next week for my annual fall boys only weekend.  

I've had success at both the shallow section and the entrance to the far bay fishing the narrow section on the fly. One of the things I love fishing about the cariboo region is the beauty of the fishing locations. One of the things I love while fishing at fawn lake is the warm food at the iron horse.  ;D ;D ;D

well i've never fished fawn lake, however i goto sheridan lake every year
my family has a cabin up there and we go every spring and summer
my record was a 5 1/2 lb
that was a beauty to play with for a while
the record for sheridan is 26 lb 6 ounce
may see you up there next year

Didn't notice the pickup or Zodiac, Trout Slayer. However, I am noted for not paying attention to anything while fishing except the end of my fly line according to my wife, who is never wrong. Just ask her.  ;D
