Just returned from a 6 day trip to Hwy 24 area. Spent the first few days at FAWN LAKE where fly fishing was excellent. Fish from 1.5 to 2 lbs on Spratley and black mixed with claret micro leech (Sizes 8 and 10) on sink tip line. Fawn is a very shallow lake with a maximum depth of about 30 feet. Even those hauling the hardware behind the boat were doing well.
SHERIDAN was another story. Only those hauling the hardware were successful when fishing very deep. I had some success around the shorelines but fish very small. One fly fisher was successful (8 lb rainbow) a towing a leech on a lead line at 30 ft. I was told I was 2 weeks early for the big lakes like Bridge, Sheridan and Lac de Roche. However, the weather was great, the campgrounds excellent and the people friendly as hell. Many camping there just to be outdoors in this great Province of ours. The leaves are beginning to turn, wildlife in abundance. What a life !
