Stamp River Report

Arrived at the Stamp yesterday afternoon. After checking into our motel at noon, we proceeded to try our luck at the Camprounds. Fishing was generally slow, my brother hooked and released a sockeye and a chinook.  Lots of chinooks and sockeyes present.  In the evening we tried a lttle lower downstream.  My brother and I hooked and lost a big chinook. 

Today the fishing excellent.  My nephew hooked 5 chinook and landed 2. His biggest was a spring pushing tyee range. We almost landed it but the hook popped out and we were too slow to grab it before it headed off  >:( >:(.  My brother hooked 7 and landed 2, the biggest being a 20 pounder. As for myself, I hooked into  6 springs but landed none. I lost one that was pushing close to 40 pounds. What a monster!!  Now is the time to come to Pt. ALberni folks ;D ;D ;D

What were you useing? leaders colours ect and do can you describre were the area is? I wanna fish the stamp this wekend but i am NOT a river fisherman. I rarely if ever fish the rivers. im a salty myself but i wan to sart fishin the flo ;D

we were using red yarn, 18 inch leaders and we were fishing the from the "Campgrounds" and down from there. There are LOTS of fish jumping in the river now. The water is quite high but with good visibility. There is not a heck of a lot of fishing pressure so there is plenty of space available. Good Luck

Fished it again this morning. Between the 3 of us, we hooked 9 chinooks. Still lots of chinooks and sockeyes surfacing in the river. Lots of fish jumping in the canal.
