No Valentine's Day Massacre
« on: February 14, 2005, 04:07:40 PM »

Another beautiful day to be out on the flow ! Much to my chagrin the river dropped approximately 18" from couple of days ago. Started off using a spinner. After 10 minutes I decided to head downstream in search of a run with hopefully a better flow. As I approached the second run, I met another fisherman who was leaving. We chatted a bit and learned that he's being there for an hour with no success. We bid adieu and went our separate ways. As I approached closer to the run something was glittering in the trees that caught my attention. It was two spinners tangled in the branches ! Can't believe the guy left without taking them. Naturally I liberated them and took them home ! I was fortunate enough to snag another spinner from the tailout. If you lost the spinners and want them back describe them in detail and where lost  ;D

No wonder you did not catch any steelhead to busy chasing gear. ;D

I did not do much better as lost a fish after about having it on for 30 seconds. The reason was I was looking at some gear in a tree above me, looked back at the TML Drennan, no where in sight, strike and a good sized fish boils to the top and as I said earlier after 30 seconds gone. A good size fish too. :'(

When will I learn to watch what I am doing instead of gazing around, most likely never ::)

A pleasure to meet Silex today. His friend had his first steelhead ever on, I left the run I was fishing in hurry to see if it was wild, got there in time only to see Silex's friend leader break or it came untied at the swivel, too bad but we have all done that one time or another.

Also saw Steeler2000 on the river, fishing beside Rod who I saw land a nice fish and Ken who said he hooked 4 and lost them all. It seemed to be a day of losses as Nick was 1 for 3 I believe. He landed and released a nice hatchery doe in the 12 to 13 pound range.

Tomorrow is another day of course on the river, will be able to make it a full one not like today when I could only fish to 3, poor boy I know. I hope to get a wild or two for the hatchery as we are sitting around 25 with 45 to 55 to go, better get busy.

Chris - great to finally meet you on the river and put a face to the name. What a super day to be outdoors! Also met Ironhead and friends...fine gentlemen all. Didn't see the LM so my day not totally complete!
