« on: May 15, 2005, 05:04:39 PM »

well here is the much awaited report for going fishing....

I asked you guys for the directions there and i managed to get lost which wasnt fun.... but i still managed to fish both lakes...Here are the reports..

Buntzen Lake

Fish rising but way in the middle being that i had no float tube it was hard to catch.  walked over to the floating bridge and got a few bites but didnt land anything.  I did however see a swim suit model doing a photo shoot.... wow.... talk about beautiful... the were off the trail and were very cool.. she took her picture with me and promised to send it to me cause they held my fishing up for a while  (thats not all they managed to get up)  ;D

Sassamat

fished off the big floating sidewalk.... wasnt bad saw 4 landed and managed to land 2 myself..... didnt really stay that long because of the rain so i went back to the car..
people were catching using green powerbait.  was also suing a weight that had a hole in the middle but still slide up and downthe line...anyone know what i am talking about...let me know

I'm guessing that they were using a [what I call] sliding-weight rig. When resting onthe bottom, if anything mouths the bait, it won't feel the weight as the line slips through it. But you will be able to notice the change and set it without the fish noticing the weight. Was there a swivel or something stopping the weight from sliding all the way to the hook ? If there is, then the rig I just explained would make sense.

I use the same rig (on a larger scale) for Halibut in the ocean. A 1 lb weight clipped to a swivel sliding on the main-line. Then slide on a bead below (and above, if you so wish) the sliding swivel, then tie on a swivel, and attach the leader.

I'll try to post a picture in a little while.

Did it look like this ? Except replace the pyramid and sliding swivel with the piece of pencil lead.

This?

Get yourself some of these small floats to increase your success.

A few split shots added below the float are enough.

You're posting the photos after the model sent them to you right?

Attach the float onto the main line. The float is fixed, meaning it does not slide up and down unless you force it. The attach method is with a couple of rubber tubings. Have the float adjusted so it's around 4 to 5 feet above the end of the main line. If your main line is light, ie. 4lb test, simply tie a hook onto the end of the main line. Clamp on a few split shots around 1 to 2 feet above the hook. You should clamp on enough split shots so that only about 0.5 to 1 inch of the float tip is above the water surface when fishing. How far you space the split shots is up to you. If they are spaced closer, it makes casting easier.

There are a few articles in the freshwater fishing articles section, which are related to this type of fishing.
