Gate at Derouche Launch
« on: June 20, 2005, 02:58:34 PM »

Why did a gate go up at the Derouche Launch? Does anyone know what the open hours will be? I get the sence that these gates are going up to try and keep fishermen off the bars until 6:00am as some sort of bizarre agreement with fisheries, RCMP and the Natives to give the Natives uninterupted netting through the night up to 6:00am. I'm thinking 6:00am because that's when Island22 opens and the parade of boats come down the river. I have nothing to support this other than seeing the gates and the tensions on the river last year.

This isnt anything exotic such as a conspiracy  ::). I believe the gates are there simply to help twart car thieves and garbage dumpers. As usual, the actions of a few affect everyone else.  >:(
