i heard they are getting springs from the mouth i was woundering what fly?

Tuff call, better to wait until later in the season and try for pinks or cruise the beaches for cutts.

Please don't take offense fish-a-holic, but if you haven't caught a fish on the fly before, I REALLY suggest that you start with some nice rainbows or something.  I have caught fish on flies before, and there is no chance I'm going to tackle springs yet.

But what I do understand about salmon fishing with a fly is this:

Mostly people troll the ocean for them with salmon patterns (check the tackle store or a book if you tie your own).

Another option is faster water in streams, perhaps up the cap (don't know, never been there) or the vedder, with a weighted wool or egg pattern.  Some people fish wetlines others floating line with a sinking tip.  I don't know what works best but this is just what I hear.

If I'm talking garbage please let me know folks.

Hey Fish-a-holic,

Don't forget the cap river itself, when the water is up a little and the fish push in, you can find them in different spots from the lower to upper river.

Can be some tough terrain to negotiate, esp upper river, but the scenery is great, and you might just hook a coho.

Maybe check out this map www.gvrd.bc.ca/parks/maps/Capilanomap.pdf, it is quite good and will show you trails and spots to fish.

Varying shades of green wolly buggers/leachs are quite common for targeting the ho's, as well as a sink tip line.

If you want to catch some trout in streams and creeks try the frasers backwaters and sloughs. The Stave is a good place and can always be productive using minnow patterns and rolled muddlers. If you dont catch any cutties you will certainly catch some whitefish as they are abundant in that system.
