Indian Arm July 3
« on: July 03, 2005, 07:29:22 PM »

Headed out for some crabbing in the arm today.  Boat launch was a total zoo, watched one guy hit three other boats while trying to put his big cuddy cabin on a trailer, he also almost took the peir out when he crashed into it, at one point he had the boat on the trailer sideways, was a very scary scene glad nobody got hurt. Ended up with out limit of crabs, but the highlight of the day was my girlfriend catching the biggest rockcod I have seen in ages. I caught one around 10 inches, then a short time later she hooks into a monster, the fish weighed 6lbs and was 19 inches. Pretty nice day to be out on the water.

Nice catch.  What type of bait did you get it on.

YEA???

I was there on Saturday (first time I've been there on boat).

I didn't really know where to throw down my traps.  By the end of the day we came back to the same beach (white pine beach) and threw the traps down.  We got a few but nothing really worth keeping.

So...about those cod.
What are you using, and how are you fishing for them?

I would LOVE to try some fishing there just to pass the time while I'm waiting for my traps.

Thanks,

uhm...

sorry for the mind-numbing questions...but i'm new to the whole fishing in the indian arm thing.

I just bought some buzz bombs because i've caught cod off the coast of galiano with those.

Is there any size i should be using?

And whats the technique?  Just find a spot, drop the line until i hit bottom and jig?

Is it best to fish in a rocky type area or a more sandy type area like near that dock.

Isn't the dock white pine beach?  I could be totally confused and wrong.
But I think i know which dock you're talking about in the first post.  What beach is that?

We dropped our traps there.
