Pinks off Sandheads Sat Aug 13
« on: August 13, 2005, 11:45:50 PM »

Went for a cruise from Steveston this afternoon to check things out at T10 and QA. We asked how guys were doing at T10 and QA. They reported nothing at all doing, so we headed back to sandheads full speed in beautiful glass calm water. As we pulled along a guy back 1/4 mile North of Sanheads to ask if he got anything, we saw his rod tugging lightly. He said he had only been fishing 15 minutes and that was the first fish, so we dropped lines and picked up a pink too in about 80 feet of water on a pink hootchie.  It was a little green and frayed looking, so we let it go, but we're going back tomorrow to see if there are any silver ones. Hopefully we'll find some good action for the kids tomorrow. What was really encouraging was how alive the water from Sandhead to QA was. Lots of seals and some kind of black topped porpoises that look like mini killer whales, and tons of small birds and surfacing feed fish.

Yup. You can catch these without downriggers. Anything pink will work. These fish move around...so yeah! :)

We were 1/4 mile North of Sandheads. Only fished for 1/2 and hour around 7pm.
