success @ peg with grief
« on: September 04, 2005, 08:57:15 AM »

went to peg yesterday morning was there at 4am thinking i would get a prime spot, when i arrived  :o wow all ready about 50-100 guys on the bar gearing up for another day of meat fishing. Asked the fella next to me when he got there he said about 3:30am, i went to my partners in crime and said this is nut's next thing you know some MORONS started to cast in the pitch black thinking they could catch their fish and go well all i have to say about that is I'm glad you got all messed up with the other MORONS they where arguing on the beach at each other on who did what  ::). Anyways when 5am rolled around i began to fish 1st cast and i lost my top half of the rod now I'm pissed/sad at the same time my brother in law and buddy's said don't worry we'll share our rod's for the day :) my next cast it's fish on nice chrome sockeye about 8lbs after cleaning my catch about 15Min's later when the rod came around to me a few casts later another fish on nice pink doe after i landed that i got another pink rite away. By now it's about 6am took a break for a bit to have some clown move in on my spot everyone nicely told him it's taken he was swearing at everyone tell to go and f#%# themselves when some other guys heard this they came over to say you should relocate this BEEK looked at theseguys argued for a bit when the next guy i guess he's the son of the fella i was standing beside came over and said if you don't move your in the water and that's that's this BEEK just didn't understand the ethics behind all of this it would of been easier to ask could i fish here while I'm taking a breather and i would said no problem but he just wanted to be difficult. Finally catch my last sockeye about 9am  ;D my partners in crime and i all limited out with our 2 socks/pinks we packed up and left by this time i figure there was at least 150-200 guys on the bar it's time to bang on the drum GONG GONG GONG tight lines to all.

Awe... I just woke up, sounds like I missed some good fishing. ;)

3:30am, some people really know how to enjoy life. So what does one do between 3:30am and 5am with 150 other people in the dark on a river? :o

Well I had fun... ;D Started legally at about 5:30 had a great bunch of fellas around...slow start but I left at about 10 ish with my limit of Sox.

2 Sockeye @ about 7-9 pounds

1 small pink about 4-5 pounds

Left immediately after landing the second Sockeye, I just did not see the point in stressing more Sockeye to retain 1 more Pink.

Sure lots of short casting Beeks around ... and Gong show galore  :P ...  but considering all of this ... it was a nice morning.

I don't know why all the fuss about Pegleg. I used to fish there way back when sockeye was first opened.  It has become very popular because of its close proximity. But it is way too crowded now for my taste.  I fished a small bar above Agassiz (not Seabird) & mostly in the afternoon.  Lots of rooms, friendly guys, & no need to be in the water.  Me & my fishing partners usually out of the bar within 1 hour.    So, time to discover other bars and spread out if you don't like crowded Pegleg.
