vedder on the 26th.
« on: September 26, 2005, 08:08:46 PM »

Was out this morning before work. Fished the lower river.  I landed two chrome jacks and a couple pinks, all on the flyrod useing a popcycle fly. Kept the first jack and let the rest go.  As a bonus, I collected some huuuge skeins of spring roe that were thrown away by the flossers in various places.   They have no idea what they are throwing away, these were gorgeous eggs. I saw one coho already on the beach as I walked around, that was it.  I'm going to bake the jack in a of batter made with Kelloge's frosted flakes, they're greeeaaatt!   BP

Holy crap!! I'm eating that jack I caught.  You gotta try the frosted flakes trick, ground them up and roll the fish in it,  Bake at 375 for 25 mins.   Awesome taste!!

It was a white spring, that pink coloured flesh. They're not as good as Red's  - IMO so I add some taste with the batter.

Sounds great bug.  Do you skin the fish too or just cook it all up?  BTW - I was flyfishing the vedder last Saturday and took home two nice spring jacks.  They turned out to be reds!   ;)

Wow, lucky break magician,  I take the skin off to cook the fish.    Also chump I never have my roe get all milky on me at all, we must do things differently.  Do you water harden them?
